This device measures the actual surface grit on your bowling ball. This product displays the grit of the ball in 0.5 sec with the click of a button. Love it. I doscovered that I was pressing too hard while resurfacing so I am trying to be more conscientious of the evenness. Will try to take note how long the surface holds up over the course of frames.

Reality Revealed

Now with the scanner we see just how quickly sanding pad degrade. Whether you use pad dry, wet or conditioner by hand or spinner the pads degrade from the minute you use the pads on your first ball resurfacing. Based on my minimal testing, the best reliable results were obtained using pad dry and by hand. Finally I detracted 1 star due to the fact that the mounting screws are susceptible to falling out if you unscrew them too far......AND CTD DOES NOT OFFER REPLACEMENT PARTS!

Eye Opening

For years, I trusted that the sanding pads, compounds, and polishes used produced the labeled grit. Laser scanners were available, but were bulky and expensive. The adaptation of a handheld glossmeter to bowling ball surfaces is pure genius. I love the affordability, portablity, and most of all being able to check and recheck the results as needed. This is a game changer for bowling. Thank you, Ron Hickland and CTD.

Fantastic device. Great way to ensure that you are getting the right surface on your ball. It shows how quickly it changes on the lane, too. Now, I know exactly how long I use certain balls.
